The Masihlule Project was born out of a concern for poor people who scavenge through wealthier households rubbish bags that are put on the streets outside their houses for collection by the local Municipality. The project is based at the Municipal Landfill site in Grahamstown, South Africa and started with 4 Sorters in 2008. This figure is growing with the project aiming to take unemployed people who are scavenging on the Landfill site and giving them an opportunity to create a consistent income through recycling waste. The Sorters collect glass, metal, card, paper and plastic and these items are weighed. They are paid according to the weight of the materials they have collected or processed.  They crush the glass, bale the cardboard and paper and shred the plastic in big machines.  These items are then sold to businesses for use in manufacturing. The project has grown considerably since inception and there are now 19 sorters collecting and processing recyclables at the Landfill site.  Collaboration and support from our partners has allowed the project to purchase machinery and to build storage facilities. With sustainability crucial, the aim is that the project people form a co-operative which will eventually take over the running of a viable business.

Situated in the heart of the Boland, Sunfield Wellington is a sheltered workplace and aftercare centre for intellectually disabled adults. Since we're a 'home for life', it's important that our residents maintain a balanced lifestyle. This means providing employment in sheltered circumstances, i.e. much guidance, ongoing training, sustained supervision, among equals, without emphasis on competition or production. We are particularly proud of the quality of our work. We also provide full-care and therapy such as sport, self-help, worship and occupation of free-time. Through these activities an environment is created in which the intellectually disabled person can feel happy, safe and secure.

Tears is a pro-life, non-profit organisation whose core aim is to rescue, rehabilitate, reunite and re-home lost, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats. We also strive to uplift the lives of companion animals in disadvantaged communities by providing free sterilisation, primary health care, veterinary treatment and food, as well as humane education to the people to teach them about the moral and ethical responsibility we have towards the animals whose world we share.

The objectives of Thembisa are: To provide safe, loving homes for HIV/Aids orphans by ensuring each child has a primary caregiver, a suitable dwelling, nutritious food, education, access to health care and counseling.
