Eighty percent of blindness is treatable or preventable; therefore 8 out of 10 people who are blind suffer unnecessarily. ORBIS provides the tools, training and technology necessary for local partners to provide their communities with quality eye health services that are affordable, accessible and sustainable.
Since 1982, ORBIS has worked in 89 countries, enhanced the skill of over 288,000 health care professionals and helped establish services that have provided quality eye care to more than 15 million people. In South Africa, we are working to improve eye health services for children by opening a Paediatric Eye Care Centre in Durban in partnership with the Department of Health. |
