The Children's Disability Centre provides schooling for learners with Autism from the JHB community 

The Friends of Valkenberg Trust works in conjunction with hospital staff to improve the quality of life of patients by providing various services and activities for the patients, thereby supporting the process of recovery.

GADRA Advice provides specializes programmes for the blind and partially sighted with the aim of increasing their changes of furthering their education or securing employment while enhancing their indpendence. Our programme includes Braille and computer training, food gardens for the blind, bee-keeping, marimba drumming, lifeskills and fiancial skills training. Accommodation is available for those from out of town.


At GlenBridge Special School, children with special needs (eg. Down Syndrome, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, and other conditions of mental handicap) enjoy various academic, music and sporting programs, as well as occupational therapy on a limited scale. Many of our children are compromised to the extent of requiring medication, whether it be for seizures or other neurodevelopmental complications. There are some children with hearing difficulty and various other physical disabilities.

 




The Hanre Trust


The Hanre Trust. Hanre was born deaf! He was a candidate to receive a cochlear implant! This soon we found out costs alot of money. We managed to raise the funds for his operation but decided to carry on with the Trust to help other children with the same needs.


HI HOPES is an early intervention programme that partners with families who have deaf and hard of hearing children (0-3 years).

We provide support and education through weekly home-visits to the family (where visits are conducted in the home language). Our aim is to empower parents to make choices that are appropriate for them and their infant and to support them every step of the way. HI HOPES' services are offered at no cost to the family.


Kanguru

Kanguru brings relief to families with disabled children. We support schools and homes for disabled children via funding and training through Germany. We are currently raising funds to build a home for 50 severely disabled children in Kliprivier.

Kingdom Ministries Mental Health and Psychiatry (KMMH), a division of Kingdom Ministries Trust manages various Mental Health related homes for individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis. Our focus is mainly based on Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) principals and models. Our Services currently include housing facilities for more than 300 clients and daily support services to many. More than 80 employees assist with the day to day running of the facilities.

Lake Farm Centre is a residential home to 90 intellectually disabled adults ranging in age from 21 to 75, who live and work on the farm or in workshops, contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of the centre. Every resident is a valued member of the group, enriching our community with their capacity for tolerance, support and love. Some have families who are able to contribute financially to their support, a growing number are orphaned and entirely dependent on the Centre and Government subsidies.

Our immediate needs range from a vehicle for transporting our residents, to mattresses, bedding, curtains, toiletries, clothing and birthday gifts for the orphans – as well as ongoing maintenance to our 50 year old buildings.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association aims to enhance the mobility, independence and dignity of blind and partially sighted people through a guide dog and to advocate the recognition and protection of the rights of all persons with disabilities.

The South African National Council for the Blind is a network of organisations who collaborate towards the prevention of blindness and securing the full participation and inclusion of blind and partially sighted people in all aspects of a diverse South African society.

Situated in the heart of the Boland, Sunfield Wellington is a sheltered workplace and aftercare centre for intellectually disabled adults. Since we're a 'home for life', it's important that our residents maintain a balanced lifestyle. This means providing employment in sheltered circumstances, i.e. much guidance, ongoing training, sustained supervision, among equals, without emphasis on competition or production. We are particularly proud of the quality of our work. We also provide full-care and therapy such as sport, self-help, worship and occupation of free-time. Through these activities an environment is created in which the intellectually disabled person can feel happy, safe and secure.

Free State Residential Care for persons with mental disabilities creates a safe environment where the disabled can be cared for and trained to the best of their abilities to make a meaningful contribution to society.

 


Wenakker provides comprehensive and continuous residential and health care to intellectually disabled adults from the province of Mpumalanga, who cannot function in the community. We enhance and protect the rights and dignity of the intellectually disabled to conform to the constitution of the RSA.

 


Wiggles and Squiggles recognises and nurtures those children with unique/special needs; accepting and building on each child's individual strengths and abilities. Our school promotes a safe, nurturing, orderly and supportive environment for children with a variety of special needs between 2 and 13 years of age. It is our mission to offer all children, regardless of their impairments, a challenging, engaging and responsive atmosphere where they are free to interact and communicate in their own unique ways.
