The
main objectives of 1000 Hills Community Helpers are
to provide a community service to the 1000 Hills Community
regarding STD/HIV/AIDS and other related diseases and their
conditions. To help the community run a feeding scheme, day
care and after care centre. To improve the quality of life
of the elderly, babies and young children. To establish workshops
for the education of HIV/AIDS, dehydration, breastfeeding,
hygiene and baby nutrition.
The organisation's secondary objectives will be to work
in collaboration with other organizations that mainly deal
with health, nutrition and education. |

Initiated by the Zululand Chamber of Business
Foundation in 2002, the primary aim of Amangwe Village is
to provide a holistic approach to the treatment and prevention
of HIV/AIDS to the surrounding rural areas. Situated in KwaMbonambi,
(+/- 20km north of Richards Bay, KZN) the project offers a range
of services through two main programmes i.e. Orphans and Vulnerable
Children; and Community Outreach, Training and Education. |

The Children's Resiliency Project exists
to increase quality of life for AIDS-affected orphans, by providing

Dance4life inspires, mobilises
and unites youth (13-19 years old) to push back HIV and AIDS
4life! Dance4life uses dance, music, media and youth icons to
open hearts of young people and make them more receptive to the
subject of HIV and AIDS. |

Durban Christian Centre – Hope Centre
Clinic provides free, VCT for HIV free, and wellness
care. We support OVC in Kwadabeka and promote awareness amongst
youth. We also train HIV counsellors |

Miqlat has been involved with
the care of families and children impacted by HIV/Aids for many
years. Bowy House is a home where children infected with and
affected by HIV/Aids can be cared for as well as providing sick
and vulnerable children a safe environment with 24-hour loving
care. |

The Luxolo Home-Based Community Care Centre is situated in the Mzomomhle Informal Settlement, Gonubie. It provides care and support to people suffering from AIDS/HIV. There is a creche at the centre for toddlers and a pre-school for children up to the age of six. The children are from the nearby shacks. A daily meal is provided to the children. The project is run by a group of women under the leadership of a retired teacher.

Nokuphila Community Services

Nokuphila Community Services is
a non-profit organization that provides Care and Support services
to people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children
in and around Springs in the East of Johannesburg.
The organisation runs an Early Childhood Development & Learning
Centre, Poverty Alleviation programs, provides Psychosocial
Support to the affected and infected and runs a Drop-In Centre
among other things –- which caters mainly for primary
school children, ensuring they get a nutritious breakfast
delivered to their schools on a daily basis, a balanced meal
for lunch and assistance with homework. We are about to launch
a computer centre to ensure that these underprivileged children
get an opportunity to be exposed to computers early in life
and that they can fairly compete with other more privileged
children.

Philimpilo means ‘live life’. We
are an NGO that aims to breathe life and hope into communities
through psychosocial (i.e. psychological, social and spiritual)
care.
Philimpilo Community Care is a response
to the need for holistic HIV interventions in vulnerable
communities. In partnership with local churches, Philimpilo
develops church-based counselling centres in underprivileged
areas, aimed at offering free, easily accessible and high
quality services in partnership with professionals, community
service providers, and businesses. |

The main objective of Project Positive
Ray is to motivate and mobilize churches to participate
in a programme of action to address the HIV/Aids crisis in
the Lower South Coast. |

Siyakhulisa Abantwana. The Trustees
have set up a Trust account with purpose of raising sufficient
funds to buy or build foster homes for children and orphans affected
by AIDS. First priority is to start a home where AIDS babies
can be cared for by professionally trained people. Monthly running
costs must be covered as well. |

The objectives of Thembisa are:
To provide safe, loving homes for HIV/Aids orphans by ensuring
each child has a primary caregiver, a suitable dwelling, nutritious
food, education, access to health care and counseling.

Vukukhanye is a Public Benefit
Organisation concerned with the support and upliftment of vulnerable
and underprivileged individuals and families in Chesterville,
Cato Manor, KwaZulu-Natal. Vukukhanye was formed in October 2001
in response to the serious threat to child and family welfare
caused by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Our primary focus was the care
of orphans and vulnerable children, primarily through a Children's
Transition/Foster Home. Since 2005 Vukukhanye's objectives have
included a broader range of activities, including HIV/AIDS prevention
and training; Early Childhood Development; Youth and Adult Education & Development
(including after school sport, bursaries and a school partnership
project) and community welfare support. |
